Before choosing a tour
Rooms or park only?
The €20 Essential ticket includes Pena’s rooms, terraces and park. Choose it for the furnished palace. The €12 park ticket covers the grounds and outer terraces, with no rooms. Keep the exact ticket-option name when choosing a tour.
What walking remains?
Pena’s park gate is a 20-minute uphill walk from the palace. The internal shuttle costs €4.50 return for visitors over 6. A palace ticket does not include it. Hotel pickup still leaves the walking at each stop.
What about the Pena time slot?
Pena entry uses time slots 30 minutes apart. Keep the entry time with your ticket. On the ticket-extra Happy Tours route, the company buys the tickets. Moovearound’s Regaleira visit requires your own 11:30 booking.
Can you cancel?
Every tour on this page gives a full refund when cancelled at least 24 hours before scheduled departure. Later cancellation has no refund. Cooltour and Portugal Buendía can replace closed monuments with an alternative route.
Going independently
Only Pena? Take the train.
The return train from Rossio and an adult Essential ticket come to €25.10 before transport up the hill. This suits a day built around Pena. You arrange the palace time slot and the journey from Sintra station.
The direct train takes 40 minutes. Bus 434 links the station with the palaces. The 434/435 pass costs €13.50 for 24 hours.
