Before choosing a full day

How long is a full day?

Eight to ten hours from the meeting point, with the drive from Lisbon inside that: departures at 08:00, back between 16:30 and 18:30. Ten-hour days fit two palaces and the coast; eight-hour days fit Pena and the coast, or Pena and Regaleira without the sea.

Two palaces or the coast?

With eight hours it is one or the other. Pena and Regaleira together take four to five hours on the ground; the cape and Cascais take two to three. The ten-hour tours here do both, in a group of 8 or 16, with lunch on the way.

When is lunch?

In the old town for 45 to 60 minutes on most tours, in Colares on SPR and Ó turista, in Cascais on the coastal days. None of the eight includes it in the price.

Is a full day too much?

For a first visit it is the sensible size: one ticketed palace, the town, and the coast without a second trip. If you want only Pena and a morning, the half-day page has eight shorter options.

Going independently

A full day by train, without a tour.

The return train from Rossio and an adult Essential ticket come to €25.10. Pena at 09:30, Regaleira after lunch, bus 434 between the station and the palaces: the day fits, and the pace is yours.

The direct train takes 40 minutes. The 434/435 pass costs €13.50 for 24 hours.
